Battle of the Books
North Carolina Battle of the Books (NC BOB) is a statewide reading competition for elementary, middle, and high school students, organized by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA). The goal is to encourage reading by introducing students to a variety of literary genres and quality literature.
Students form teams and read books from a selected list provided each year. During competitions, teams answer detailed questions about the books in a quiz-bowl style format. The program promotes teamwork, comprehension, and a love of reading.
NC Battle of the Books is popular in schools and libraries across the state and fosters both academic and personal growth through reading.
